Fortune Plastics has an opening for a Bag Machine Operator on our night shift. This position requires maintaining quality control and packaging of the product. Hours are 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on an alternating 3-4 day work week.  Our comprehensive benefit package offers health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, paid holidays and 401k with company match. 

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and designated Shift Leads, this position is responsible for operating bag machines and associated equipment in order to safely produce high-quality bags in accordance with the safety requirements, production schedules, set-up instructions, operating procedures, and quality specifications, etc.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

•    Understand and follow all safety procedures/policies

•    Know and understand proper operations of bag machine and controls

•    Read and verify job orders

•    Understand printing job requirements by the specifications

•    Notify Extrusion Operator or Lead Operator of any defects

•    Must ensure that all cartons are marked with correct carton label and date codes, and that each web is identified  with a lane designations

•    Check for correct placement, size and quality of perforations as required by work order

•    Inspect for proper color in colored product

•    Perform quality checks of material being produced and complete related documentation

•    Complete daily production paperwork

•    Maintain a clean and safe work area

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Extrusion Manager and designated Shift Leads, this position is responsible to assist the extrusion operator in the efficient set-up and operation of extrusion lines  in order to safely produce high-quality bags in accordance with the job safety analyses (JSA’s), production schedule, set-up instructions, operating procedures, and quality specifications, etc.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow all JSA’s and safety procedures/policies

  • Safely and efficiently assist the extrusion operator in set-up and operation of extrusion lines to produce high quality HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) film

  • Assist the Extrusion Operator in operating extrusion lines in accordance with job safety analysis, standard operating procedures, and operator training to meet or exceed productivity requirements and minimize downtime and waste

  • Ensure that proper materials are being used in accordance with procedures

  • Properly uses testing and measuring equipment and  hand tools

  • Completes all preventative maintenance including pin and screen changes

  • Assists in the monitoring of roll weights to ensure the correct gauge is maintained throughout the shift

  • Assures proper packaging and labeling of film

  • Assists in completing daily production reporting

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Aptitude:

  • General knowledge required in mechanics (gears, bearings, pulleys, belts, etc.), pneumatics and hydraulics in order to effectively troubleshoot equipment problems in a timely manner with minimal supervision.

  • Practical knowledge in the use of precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.

  • Ability to safely operate shop tools such as cutoff saws, drill press, bench grinder, hydraulic press, vertical band saw, arc welders, acetylene torch and various other hand tools is essential.

Electrical Aptitude:

  • Electrical knowledge helpful, but not required.

  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting of Weekly/Monthly inventories

  • Responsible for all shipping related Customer Incident Reports, including investigating, reporting results, developing and executing plans to make improvements

  • Reviews production schedules and other online data sources and dashboards relating to manufacturing production

  • Analyzes which products are due for shipment, viewing ahead on a daily, weekly and monthly basis

  • Maintains a clean and highly organized warehouse, parking lot, and containers

Mechanical Aptitude:

SUMMARY”

The Forklift Operator is responsible for using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment to load, unload, move, stack, stage and count product and materials, Uses radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving and putaway, as required. LIST OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES:

Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.

Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances

Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped. Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer services standards.

Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.

Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment. Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, putaway, and load functions. On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.

Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained. Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotations.

Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintain the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards

Must possess a current valid CD license.

Note and report any damage of tractor, trailer, and/or product to traffic manager immediately.

Perform pre-trip inspections of tractor/trailer and fill pre-trip inspection report.

Safely refuel unit with diesel and follow set refueling procedures.

Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

4.    In case of a breakdown, repair and adjust as necessary.  Contact Maintenance when necessary.  Report condition to Shift Supervisor.

5.    Submit Work Order Requests for all major equipment repairs.

 

6.    Follow up on daily machine and operational problems.  Identify recurring problems.  Work with other Adjusters, maintenance and management to correct short and long-term concerns.

 

7.    Ensure recurring problems are brought to the attention of the Shift Supervisor.

SUMMARY

Position must be able to communicate effectively with Supervisors and other employees.  Must be able to make plant electrical decisions such as when to change or repair motors, how to run conduits or wiring, what size breaker to use for lights, number of lights in circuit, etc.  Must recognize when situations may pose a threat to employees and how to act on them.

 

LIST OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES:

1.    Review electrical malfunctions as they occur in order to determine cause and solutions.

2.    Determine voltage, resistance, etc., and draw dimensions and methods to be used to wire machinery.

3.    Troubleshoot and repair broken and inoperative machines.

4.    Make sure lighting and other electrical equipment such as fans, electrical plugs, electrical cords and air conditioners are working properly and safely.  Light fixtures should be covered with protective light shields.

5.    Wire machinery when installed and make sure it is working correctly.

6.    Disconnect and remove electrical power from equipment when it is to be moved.

7.    Repair small motors when needed.

8.    Handle emergency repairs as quickly as possible in order to minimize downtime.

9.    Check compressors, boilers and fire extinguishers.

10.    Clean air conditioner filters.

11.    Keep electrical shop clean.

12.    Ensure that electrical dangers are eliminated for employees.

13.    Keep accurate records on work completed.

14.    Perform monthly plant inspection on fire extinguishers reporting any damaged, lost and serviceable fire extinguishers to the Head Electrician and documenting such inspections.

15.    Performs job duties safely and follows set task procedures.

16.    Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

 

SUPERVISION NEEDED:

This Position has no supervisor responsibility. Employee must report to Maintenance and Engineering Manager.

JOB SUMMARY:

Handles all clerical functions for the plant, such as handling confidential information, translations, correspondence, memos, all types of report preparations, monitoring, inputting of information, greeting visitors and callers and offering support to the Personnel Administrator.

 

LIST OF MAJOR DUTIES:

1.    Answer and transfer telephone calls.  Directs visitors when needed.

2.    Responsible for the handling, monitoring, and preparing of the Bank Activity Statement twice a month and ensures that sufficient funds exists.

3.    Prepares company checks.

4.    Coordinates and prepares employee paperwork and activities such as, but not limited to, employee orienta
    tions, physicals, hires and terminations, safety meetings, safety luncheons, quality meetings, employee meetings, etc. .

5.    Prepares, translates and distributes memos, letters, and announcements to employees.

6.    Maintains and organizes employee medical files.

7.    Responsible to maintain organized and up to date personnel files with Personnel Administrator's permission, such as but not limited to, the hiring and termination of an employee.

8.    Is responsible for the Brownsville Payroll, which includes, but not limited to, the preparation, calculation, inputting, etc.. of employee information and hours utilizing the Kronos Timekeeper system.

9.    Keeps track of all employees' vacation, holiday, sick leave, workman’s comp. and pregnancy leave days by accurately inputting such annotation into computer.

10.    Prepares and inputs all attendance slips for employees.

11.    Works with the Personnel Administrator to prepares graphical information for management.

12.    Works with Payroll, employees and supervisors on any problems relating to employee hours worked.

13.    Assists in, when necessary, on Brownsville's Production and Man-hour Reports, which include, but not limited to, the sorting, calculation, inputting, distribution, etc.. of all produc

14.    Add, update and delete confidential employee information into computer.

15.    Assists in the Safety program which includes, preparing employee of the month plaque, congratulation notices, scheduling luncheons, posting employee birthdates, posting the no lost days, etc. onto bulletins.

16.    Prepares various week ending reports and submits to manage
    ment, such as but not limited to, overtime report, absenteeism report, time sheet, when necessary, on man-hours report, production report, etc..

19.    Sorts and distributes employees payroll checks weekly.

20.    Responsible to maintain sufficient funds in the postage meter.

21.    Organizes, distributes, and mails company mail.

22.    Maintains an up to date applicant flow log.

23.    Works closely with Personnel Administrator assisting wherever needed.

24.    Work closely with Payroll department, shift supervisors and Personnel Administrator concerning with matters related to employees’ hours.

25    Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Position should have experience on multi-line phone and must communicate effectively in dealing with employees, visitors and customers.  Job requires individual who is organized and who can take the initiative in making sure that all duties get done.  Job duties are about 40% receptionist and 60% secretarial.  Position requires approximately one month to become reasonably familiar with basic components.

Should be able to obtain correct information effectively and process it effectively.  Must provide support to the Personnel Administrator.  Must have basic computer skills and record keeping skills in order to handle and monitor paperwork responsibilities.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school education (one to two years college preferred), or equivalent work experience, is required.  One to three years secretarial and/or receptionist experience is required.  Typing skills (55 wpm) are required since position types all memos, letters, translations and announcements for the Brownsville Plant.  Word Processing, data entry and spreadsheet experience is required.

Mechanical Aptitude:

  • General knowledge required in mechanics (gears, bearings, pulleys, belts, etc.), pneumatics and hydraulics in order to effectively troubleshoot equipment problems in a timely manner with minimal supervision.

  • Practical knowledge in the use of precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.

  • Ability to safely operate shop tools such as cutoff saws, drill press, bench grinder, hydraulic press, vertical band saw, arc welders, acetylene torch and various other hand tools is essential.

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for maintaining order of the roll stock scanning program and maintaining inventory records for the warehouse department.

 

JOB RESPONSABILITIES:

 

1.    Input outside receipts of roll stock.

2.    Maintains track of all paper in its designated areas and makes sure they are in warehouse by size and color.

3.    Make sure roll stock paperwork is completed accurately.

4.    Responsible for completing roll stock cycle counts, for researching discrepancies and for correcting records accordingly.

5.    Complete work for roll stock inventory such as but not limited to the maintenance of the roll stock scanning program which includes and is not limited to input, scanning, maintaining and reports.

6.    Keep all roll stock areas organized and clean.

7.    Keep track of all incoming and outgoing raw material trucks and railcars.

8.    Advise the Operations Manager of all roll stock discrepancies.

9.    Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

Position Summary:

  • Train new employees or assign them to workers to be trained.

This position is responsible for the supervision of maintenance throughout the facility.  Novolex is a blown plastics manufacturing facility, and this department must perform all projects to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, and preventative maintenance schedule.

 

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

  • Investigates, documents, and conducts disciplinary action with direction from Plant Manager and the Human Resources Specialist.

  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical and electrical, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.

  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and equipment.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • The candidate must have a proven background in people management skills.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, including servers, user desktop PCs, printers, peripherals, and thin terminals.

  • Administer disaster recovery to include, backup/archival of systems to effect an RPO/RTO meeting company requirements by tier.

  • Administer all data protection to include FC and iScsi attached storage arrays (HP, Netapp, etc), local storage, and other storage solutions. Ensure recurring backups and recovery procedures ensure full data retrieval as practiced on a routine basis.

  • Coordinate with IT team members responsible for network engineering, business application, and database administration to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of Apps to meet all company overall objectives.

  • Support application and development teams throughout project lifecycles.

  • Conduct research on hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will have 3-4+ years proven experience administering core infrastructure systems to include Windows Servers up to 2012/R2, Microsoft Active Directory/DNS/DHCP, Vmware (V5-6), and system protection solutions.  Experience w/Veeam and Backupexec a plus.

1.    Perform greasing & oiling of machines, machine adjustments, print set-ups, machine maintenance, maintaining ink consistency, etc.

2.    Mount plates, replace dies and blades, equipment timing, etc.

3.    Clear machine jams, troubleshoot and correct issue.

4.    In case of a breakdown, repair and adjust as necessary.  Contact Maintenance when necessary.  Report condition to Shift Supervisor.

5.    Submit Work Order Requests for all major equipment repairs.

 

6.    Follow up on daily machine and operational problems.  Identify recurring problems.  Work with other Adjusters, maintenance and management to correct short and long-term concerns.

 

7.    Ensure recurring problems are brought to the attention of the Shift Supervisor.

 

8.    Perform job duties according to policies and procedures.

<![CDATA[Pre-Production & Portfolio Control Manager]]> Description

Position Summary:

The Pre-Production & Portfolio Control Manager will be in charge of maintaining and controlling the active product portfolio make-up for Duro Bag. This position will work closely with the Sales, Operations and Supply Chain divisions to ensure a streamlined product portfolio as the company continues to grow through new offerings for both small and Fortune 500 customers alike.  Creating tightly connected processes and controls that manage the product lifecycle will be a key component of this role.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the new product setup process from end-to-end, including the direct management of pre-production and control coordinators

  • Work closely with Graphics department when required through the new item set-up process

  • Partner with production planning personal to ensure proper go-forward inventory stocking execution in accordance with formal customer agreements

  • Supervise and maintain machine/line/tooling capabilities information in order to ensure high levels of item attribute accuracy within the organization

  • Monitor and control, end-of-lifecycle inventory exit processes

  • Provide functional support to Sales & Marketing, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Pricing, Supply Chain, & Financial activities

  • Develop and maintain of performance reporting metrics

  • Recruit, teach, supervise, coach, and develop departmental personnel

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong service support orientation with a vision, strategy, and ability to inspire peers and subordinates to operational excellence is required.

  • Instinctive ability to rapidly identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and implement the appropriate action is a must.

  • High proficiency especially with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint is required.

  • Thorough understanding of product structure, data setup, and maintenance in a financially-integrated ERP system operating in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

  • Hands-on application experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.

  • 5-7 years of experience in a Planning, Customer Service or Process Governance/Control role required, with 3-5 years of that experience being in a people management position. 

  • Experience working in a multi-facility manufacturing environment with a financially integrated ERP system strongly desired.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required.

  • A Master’s Degree, related post-education training, other specialized certifications are preferred.
