Supervises and schedules mechanical and electrical engineers. Reviews and approves drawings. Leads training and development activities. Performs project risk assessments, evaluates estimates and oversees project costs. Pursues value engineering and continuous improvements. Interfaces with customers and assists with program management. Leads R&D initiatives and new product development. Promotes a team-oriented and collaborative working environment.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate must possess strong communication skills (written and oral), ability to organize and lead multiple engineering projects with the following responsibilities: supervising engineering personnel, developing new products, working directly with customers, working with internal functions (i.e. manufacturing/quality), generate profit improvements and must be a hands on Engineer. This position requires a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
Accident prevention – actively identify, correct and/or report safety hazards to prevent accidents.
Actively identify and pursue cost reduction and efficiency/profit improvement opportunities.
Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and the Sea Box Quality Policy calling for self-inspection of your work product.
Schedules, supervises and evaluates performance of the engineering staff.
Performs project risk assessments.
Evaluates project costs.
Establishes operating policies and procedures. Interprets, executes and recommends modifications to technical and administrative organizational policies.
Directs department activities in designing new products, modifying existing designs, improving production techniques, and developing test procedures.
Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects. Transfer new technology concepts into new product innovations and existing product line modifications.
Resolves or directs the resolution of engineering design or product operational problems.
Coordinates with Manufacturing, Marketing, Contracts and Quality Assurance and other groups to ensure required engineering documentation is established and maintained for each project.
Confers with management, production, and sales staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
Creates and maintains budget and schedule tracking metrics and reports status to executive management team.
Provides guidance to teams on development, performance and productivity issues
Review and approve drawings before release to production.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications/Education: Bachelor Degree (BS) in Engineering is required, and ten (10) to fifteen (15) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years in a leadership position must be included in the experience requirement. A Master's level degree (MA or MS) in engineering or business is preferred. Knowledge of Container Industry preferred. Experience: Minimum of 10 years Engineering experience.
