Job Description

Job Title: Outside Sales



Summary: Counter Sales personnel are responsible for providing outstanding customer service to customers/potential customers by selling tires, road hazard and recommended services, benefits and product features, create long-term loyalty bonds with customers, drive sales and profitability of the store, and maintain a clean store; as well as other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders.

  • Recommend products to customers, based on customers' needs and interests.

  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.

  • Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates.

  • Prepare drawings, estimates, and bids that meet specific customer needs.

  • Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.

  • Arrange and direct delivery and installation of products and equipment.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Communication - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Talking to others to convey information effectively.

  • Sales and Marketing- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.

  • Customer and Personal Service - Including but not limited to customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems - Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Work Environment:

The job is typically performed in an indoor environment however exposure to outside weather conditions is not uncommon. The employee may be required to stand for long hours while working at the service counter, stools may or may not be available. The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift/move more than 100 pounds.




High school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of one (1) year related experience in tire sales is preferred but not required. A two or four year college degree is also preferred but not required.
