Job Description

Job Purpose:


Performs manual labor along a production line. Operates and troubleshoots production line machinery. Following blueprints or assembly specifications, they solder, glue, combine or fabricate a portion of the product, and then forward their work to the next area of production. Operate industrial trucks or tractors equipped to move materials around a warehouse, storage yard, factory, construction site, or similar location


Job Summary


This position reports to the Plant Manager or a Department Supervisor. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, gloves and hard hats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. The ideal candidate should be a certified forklift operator and have experience in a similar position. Detail oriented and team player.




  • Accident prevention – correct and/or report any unsafe working conditions before they result in an accident.

  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements, cost reductions and profit improvement initiatives.

  • Some assembly line workers work with their hands only, but they may also have to operate a number of tools and equipment

  • May have to drill holes for the screws in the item or operate different machinery

  • The whole assembly process needs to be planned before an assembly line is built

  • Must ensure that the time, material and wastage is minimized

  • Responsible for attaching or affixing pre-manufactured components and parts

  • As most of the work is done while standing, this job can be exhausting, but workers are rotated for variance in their work.

  • They use screwdrivers, pliers, soldering irons and special tools to position and hold parts during assembly

  • Inspect product load for accuracy, and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.

  • Move controls to drive gasoline- or electric-powered trucks, cars, or tractors and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.

  • Move levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.

  • Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.

  • Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.

  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.

  • Weigh materials or products, and record weight and other production data on tags or labels.

  • Operate or tend automatic stacking, loading, packaging, or cutting machines.

  • Turn valves and open chutes to dump, spray, or release materials from dump cars or storage bins into hoppers.

  • Signal workers to discharge, dump, or level materials.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Lifting production objects of up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Knowledge and skills: Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.


Experience: 2-5 years’ experience in similar position. Experience operating 10-30k lift capacity and 6-9ft. forks.
