The top level goal of this position is to promote an internalized safety culture where workers assume responsibility for the own safe behavior.
The safety specialist will observe and report any accidents or Incidents to the Safety Coordinator. Observe the Environment and departments to ensure housekeeping and safety of employees of Seabox in Hillsborough.
The Safety Specialist will:
Be given ample time during work hours to complete observations
Complete investigations and annotate Accidents and Incidents to the Safety Coordinator and shop Supervisor
Report Near misses
Complete Monthly fire extinguisher inspection
Verify Emergency exit lights, AED’s and Eyewash stations are inspected and serviceable maintain all records for Hillsborough
Ensure any SDS needed are requested to the Safety Coordinator
Report any deficiencies and Corrective actions to the Safety Coordinator.
Inform all supervisors of any corrective actions needed and whenever time is needed to complete the items above. Supervisors will give enough time during normal working hours to complete the tasks stated above.
Accident prevention – correct and/or report any unsafe working conditions before they result in an accident
Overseeing and assisting in the facility safety program.
Ensure compliance with OSHA & EPA regulations and standards.
Promotes progress through positive change and continuous improvement.
Maintains positive work environment, promotes and supports good housekeeping practices and quality
Change agent to promote an internalized (self-responsible) safety
Assist in Conducting safety inspections, safety reporting, protocols and procedures.
Assist in developing and creating processes and programs for the Safety Program
